I love my Instinct 1.0's and was ready for some new ones. I was able to get some of the first releases and have given them a pretty good test over the last week and a half or so. I'm happy to say, it doesn't seem like they changed anything on the inside of the shoe. My feet still have enough room to... (Read more)

I bought the original Instinct a 6 months ago after several severe foot injuries. I've now run in these shoes pain free. I've tried everything from orthotics, every popular shoe fad, to barefoot running to help me strengthen my foot but these are the only ones that work. Thank you Altra!

This is the best running shoe out there. After battling ITBS for over a year I've switched to the instinct and never looked back. I naturally run on my forefoot so the switch was easy. These feel WONDERFUL--the most comfortable shoes I've ever stepped into. I just had these delivered to my door and can't believe there isn't one thing about them that I'd change if I could, a miracle for my very large, problem feet. It's a huge relief to have enough room for my toes, finally. I bou... (Read more)

I have had Achilles issues for the better part of the past ten years, I saw the television spot for these shoes and purchased a pair at Miles To Go Running in Sutton, MA a month ago. I was not able to run without debilitating pain in my heels until I got these shoes. I'm running (still very slowly... (Read more)

I love these shoes! They have been my primary shoes since May. They are comfortable, light and roomy for my toes. The best running shoe I've ever owned...EXCEPT...the mesh on the toe box is tearing. When it first began, I thought I had snagged something in my run. But when the tears began to be sym... (Read more)

I ran for 30 years and now I jog and have been for 10 plus years. I had never tried the Altra brand, great shoe and comfortable but uppers did not hold up. The mesh tore loose from the lowers. Still will try another model because the shoe is just that comfortable. 200-250 miles starting to tear mesh... (Read more)

I love the feel of the shoe and the fit. But after 15 miles, all of the stitching started to come undone. I exchanged them without any problems (other than 1.5 hrs out of my day). Now I see that many others have issues with the mesh. Hope I don't have buyers remorse...

I love my original Instincts (I'm on my third pair) but I just got a pair of Instincts 1.5 and took them for a run and wow. They are great! I'll admit I still need to see how they hold up over time, but straight out of the box I had an even better run than with my original Instincts, and that is say... (Read more)

I'm a podiatrist who has been an average but avid runner for 30 years. I have access to virtually any shoes through my practice but these are by far the most comfortable and injury preventing shoes I have found. I run more comfortably with better recovery. That's important to me as I age.

I have been running trail runs/races in the 2012 ver of Lone Peaks and have been a LONG time Newton road running shoe owner. I decided to try the Altra road shoes after getting some calf issues while running in my Newtons. I noticed a big difference in my running cadence, (it went from high 80's to... (Read more)

Comfort, joy, happiness are just some of the adjectives I would use to describe this shoe. There is not a single thing that I can think of that would improve it. From day one these shoes have felt so comfortable to me that I would have no issue wearing them every single day. I want to wear them all ... (Read more)
