Finally a shoe that fits me!
By Ultra Dan on Mar 9, 2014
Average Rating: 5.0 / 5.0
I don't have too many miles on the Lone Peak 1.5 yet, but now that I got through my 50k, I will transition more and more to the Altras. As someone with a wide forefoot, I've always had to compromise something to get the right fit, either too long to conform to my width or too narrow so that my foot ... (Read more)
Mesh durability
By Stefan on Mar 9, 2014
Average Rating: 2.0 / 5.0
First of all, I'd buy the shoe again. There are simply no real alternatives out there. However, after about 75 miles the toe box mesh starts disintegrating severely. Something more robust would have been nice. I use McNett Black Witch to "seal" the affected area (a tip I got from a British fell ... (Read more)
Good shoe, terrible color.
By UltraDan on Apr 30, 2013
Average Rating: 4.0 / 5.0
Nice upgrades and really good shoe but please give us more color options. The women's orange looks really good but the red/white is blah. Having one color choice just doesn't work.
Earth Tones plz
By Tortuga Flautista on May 1, 2013
Average Rating: 4.0 / 5.0
Why so gaudy? I would love to be able to buy a pair of these in some nice rich earth tones, instead of the bright red. I like the look of the Superiors, but prefer the ruggedness and durability of the Lone Peaks. I took one look at these and ordered another pair of the Lone Peak 1.0s, but that order... (Read more)
Even Better
By Dan on May 3, 2013
Average Rating: 5.0 / 5.0
Wow, this shoe is incredible. The biggest change from the original is the upper. Just looking at them, and running in them the midsole and outsole seem the same. I'm so glad Altra changed the upper, because that was my biggest complaint about the original. The original upper had durability issue... (Read more)
Fire Engine Red! Really?
By QSmokey on May 7, 2013
Average Rating: 2.0 / 5.0
This is supposed to be a TRAIL shoe, which usually means something other than a bright red shoe (with an equally bright, white sole)! I do very little of my weekly running through strawberry fields, so unless this shoe is meant to be seen flrom a Life Flight helicopter in the event that you break ... (Read more)
Most comfortable Shoe ive ever worn
By Ozydingo on May 12, 2013
Average Rating: 5.0 / 5.0
As soon as I put these on and stood up something felt different to all the other shoes ive worn in the past. They are just so comfortable and the wide Toe box gives by forefoot ample space.I will be wearing these running around New Zealand where the Mountains are high and the Bootcamps are Tough.I'm ... Pure Awesome
By Alex the Ultra Runner on May 12, 2013
Average Rating: 5.0 / 5.0
To start off I have to say thank you, thank you, and thank you for the upgrade. About what Dan said previous about the upper mesh change is completely true. My complaints about the original Lone Peak was the inseam on the front of the shoe lace part near the toes and the slight movement of the foot ... (Read more)

As previous reviewers mentioned - two big issues were fixed - the upper does not fold downwards over toes (inducing a painful rub) and the shoe just seems more snug - no sloppy sideways feel any more. But still roomy in the toes. At times if feels like there is nothing on my feet and I am just floa... (Read more)
Comfortable and stable; my new favorite.
By Frankisaurus on Jun 5, 2013
Average Rating: 5.0 / 5.0
I am 47 and I like to run long on trails, 10 to 20m, at least I used to. I switched to fore striking a couple of months ago to revive my running life, which had been cut short by back pain. Although I'm not back to full distance yet, I am happy to be running 5 to 6 days per week, 25-30m. I had tho... (Read more)
Dream shoe!
By Farther not Faster on Jun 28, 2013
Average Rating: 5.0 / 5.0
Best shoe on the market for those who love low profile, yet run long on trails. They have it all. Zero drop, great lugs, nice toe protection, fantastic cushion (without the drop) rock plate, wide toe box. Like running on pillows with protection. I used them for the first time on 50 km of rugged ... (Read more)
Awesome shoe except for slick outsole
By big al on Jul 4, 2013
Average Rating: 3.5 / 5.0
I run on the rough and occasionally wet trails in the Adirondacks (NY). These felt great over the most technical terrain - as long as it was dry. I found the outsole to be pretty slippery on damp rocks. The outsole on my Patagonia Forerunner's performs much better in those conditions. I could see th... (Read more)

I've spent a considerable amount of time in search of my ideal trail runner, but Altra's innovation and willingness to think outside the (traditional yet unbearably small toe)box may finally be what I've been searching for. Appreciably lighter than most trail shoes, the Lone Peak 1.5 still delivers ... (Read more)
Color Choice Yes!

Very excited to hear that we will soon have more color choice(s) in the Lone Peaks. Love the shoes, not so much the bright red color. I am still running in them because they are the best running shoes I've owned, but I will be buying a pair of the some-what less bright ones as soon as you make them ... (Read more)
Super shoe
By EdQ on Aug 15, 2013
Average Rating: 5.0 / 5.0
I like this shoe. Its fast, light and stable. The extra room in the toe box is wonderful to have on those long runs. I was skeptical of the cushioning, but no worries, the ride is nice; you'll be moving faster and won't need the heel cushioning as much. The out sole sheds mud nice. And it does hold ... (Read more)

I absolutely love this shoe! I wasn't sure how it'd handle the long runs / time on feet, but I am delighted to report that they performed perfectly. They had lots of traction during my last mountain trail marathon, and have held up well during my training for my next ultra. I just ordered my 2nd ... (Read more)
Love this shoe

I'm going with 5 stars because, even though th upper (toebox) started tearing after 200 miles, they are still the best trail shoes I might have ever put on my feet. The toe bumper appears to eat away at the upper where the rubber meets the fabric. I have huge tears alond the seam. Good thing the lin... (Read more)

Great shoe, love the construction -- but these are not perfect and have issues. Second Altra pair for me (first was Instinct 1.5). Lone Peak 1.5 - Great For Softball Too!

After years of battling chronic plantar fasciitis, both on and off the softball diamond, I finally abandoned traditional cleats for turf shoes. I've been running in NB Minimus for the past few years, I purchased these yesterday and took them for a test drive. I can honestly say, these shoes have improved my running experience. Like a lot of other reviewers, I would have preferred a more neutral color.

Fantastic Shoe-Needs Different Colors

Average Rating: 5.0 / 5.0
I absolutely love this shoe. Your foot will feel better than it ever has after an ultra. However, echoing others' comments, this shoe needs to come in some nice earth tones for those of us who like to blend into nature a bit more.

I love this shoe. I've run a variety of trails with it from sandy dry to technical wet and it it has tremendous traction. It gives me a lot of confidence whether its running uphill or downhill. LOVE the color everyone asks about them. Took about 3 months of road walking for my back to adjust to zero drop but now I will never wear anything else. Everyone is WHINING about the colors. I like them, especially the black. You know it's a great shoe when the main thing people are complaining about are the color options. I have ZERO complaints. I'll post again after I put more miles on them.

I love these shoes! Best pair of trail runners I have ever owned. I run fast and I run hard, especially downhill. I have been running bare foot style for years now and needed a great trail running shoe that protected my feet too. This shoe fits my style with the zero drop and wide toe box.
