I just found the shoe that is perfect for me. I am 60 and a large runner at 6'1 220 andesite a bunion issue on my left foot. This shoe allows me to run with no pain and I feel as good at the end of my run as I did at the start. Thank you Altra for a wonderful shoe.

Ok I have had Torins for a few weeks now. I have held off on a review until I got a few miles on them. Have to say I am impressed great shoe for distance. In fact I liked them so much I returned a pair of another brand I had been using on long runs. Going to get a second pair so I can rotate the... (Read more)
Great zero drop for the long run
By jbs1126 on Jan 10, 2013
Average Rating: 4.5 / 5.0
Just what I was looking for to use on long runs over 10 miles and tempo runs. Great airy fit, handles the elements well. Even with the higher stack height, I fell like I am grabbing the ground like I do in my Instincts, but not as much clap because of the cush. Could use one more eye at the top to... (Read more)

I put 400 miles on my Instincts and needed a new training shoe for the new season. My knee and shins started acting up even on short quick runs and decided that I needed a more cushioned shoe, despite how much I loved my original Instincts. I first looked at other brands such as Saucony and Brooks b... (Read more)

Competition for Nike?

How disappointing to see Altra expanding on your line of cusioned, "stable" shoes. Looks like some arch "support"... aka pain. The Samson and Adam (and women's versions too, I'm sure) are such great shoes, that it's a wonder you aren't expanding on that part of your lineup. I would love to recommend... (Read more)
Love this shoe - Replaced 30 years of Nike
By JazzyGtr on Mar 27, 2014

This shoe as officially taken over where 30+ years of wearing Nike left off. I have had them for about a month and have been logging 32-42 miles per week in them ever since. One of the BIGGEST differences for me is the larger toe box. I have arthritis in both my feet and hips, and after surgeries... (Read more)

I want to say overall I am very surprisingly impressed. It did take a month betweeen ordering and shipping, and then time to arrive after that, even with a phone call in the middle to see what was taking so long. When the shoe finally arrived it sat unopened for a week because I was convinced I was... (Read more)

I find it interesting that a person would give a bad review to a shoe that they have never worn. For this reason, I say that Jaybird needs to be quiet! Now as a person that has actually worn the shoe and loves it, here's a actual review. I have owned the shoes for about three weeks and have ... (Read more)

Today I did my first running in the Torin, so this is just a my preliminary take on the Torin. I normally wear 11s but had to go with 12s for the Torin. The Torin fits and works as advertised. I could feel my toes spreading out in the shoe as I ran as well as feel the shoe encouraging mid-foot/... (Read more)
150 miles of the best running in my life

Have run 150 miles in the Altra Torin Shoes within the past month. I am training for my 3rd Marathon. My previous shin pain and I.T. band pain have resolved and I am running more comfortably and faster than ever before. The only thing better would be "FLUBBER" soles (from the movie "FLUBBER")and ... I've had quite a few shoes that I paid way more for that didn't offer this amount of durability and comfort in the forefoot. As someone who kills the front outside of every shoe first, I like the zero drop concept (no wasted engineering in the rear part of the shoe). I have a long skinny foot, and t... (Read more)

Have been running for several years and began developing neuroma problems in right foot and lower ankle problems in left foot. Good fit - Questionable Durability
By Curt on Aug 14, 2013
Average Rating: 2.5 / 5.0
Normal, good Altra fit. Well cushioned and comfortable. I worn mine less than 300 miles (~10 runs) when the rubber/plastic on the toe started to separate. Also, the rubber/plastic on the toe box will cause problems with your toes / toe nails if you curl your toes up at all when you run.
Thanks MarathonSlayer - I like them.

Toe box is too tight.
By hcl on Oct 9, 2013

The lacing starts too far back, so it cannot be use to loosen the tight toe box. I have to cut a slit along the big toe at the side to alleviate the tightness. I do not need to do that for the old model of Provision because the lacing starts nearer the toes. Either widen the toe box or starts t... (Read more)

I have been through quite a few shoes in the last 2 years, trying to find the right one for me. This shoe is fantastic so far. For those of us who are neutral runners and want zero drop there are lots of shoes out there. if you want zero drop and some great cushioning for longer runs, your options are limited. I came from the Nike Free 3.0 after deciding I needed to make the move into a more cushioned shoe that would allow me to safely increase mileage (I'm 50, 175 lbs, 25 miles per week). The adjustment to the Torin has been easy and painless. I feel more efficient and the on and off calf tightness I had... (Read more)
Lightweight,tight,shallow and narrow

Bought this since I needed a little more cushioning than my Instinct. Shoe is pretty tight. I wear thin socks. Big toe rubs on the upper even after taking out the insole. Shoe needs more vertical space in the toe box area. Also need more width. Lace is not long enough. Hopefully 1.5 will be better

I have been running seriously for about a year now. I started about 8 months after having my right ankle fused, which was to fix massive arthritis pain that resulted from a shattered ankle 4 years previous. Because of the angle that my foot is now fixed in, a zero drop shoe is perfect. I started out... (Read more)

I have found my perfect running shoe. Very few companies make a size 15 running shoe, even fewer with minimal drop (or in this case, zero). As a runner who is 6'8" and 200+ pounds, this shoe is perfect. Nice cushion, comfortable toe box, no hot spots. I know they never say to take a new pair of shoe... (Read more)

Altra Torin is perfect shoe, in all aspects. ZeroDrop is a cure for problems with Achilles tendons. Funny how everything is relative. Maximum Cushioning is at the Nike Free 3.0 level, so it is minimum cushioning for others ;-). The only problem are the laces - short and constantly untied.
