Comments: First, I love these shoes. Comfortable and true to Altra tradition when it comes to performance especially on the streets. However, after putting less than 150 miles on each of two pairs of the 1.5's since September 2012, tears started appearing on the mesh material at the foot of the shoe where it meets the toe guard sides. I returned one pair and promptly received the replacement which is having the same tears. I thought it might have something to do with my form, so I had my stride checked-out. I'm landing mid-foot and not on my toes which one might expect to stress the shoe where it is tearing. I'm keeping the defective second pair because I am hoping that the thin mesh does not do much for the integrity of the shoe. No similar stress appears on my 3 previous pairs of the Altra Instincts each with 400+ miles. I also use a pair of Altra Lone Peak Trail shoes with no problems after 250 miles. I'm disappointed that the Instinct 1.5 may not have the durability of it's venerable predecessors.
