Ten Weeks, Four Historic 100-Mile Races
Born and raised in Lithuania, Gediminas “GG” Grinius started running as a way to cope with PTSD after an intense military mission in Iraq. He continued to run further and further to challenge his mind and body and push his limits.

Since he began running, GG has been ranked as high as 2nd in the Ultra Trail World Tour Rankings and has top-10 finishes in more than ten 100-mile races including the historic Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run. GG recently completed the Grand Slam of Ultra Running which consists of four of the oldest and most prestigious 100-mile races over the course of three months. His four races included the Western State’s 100 (6th place), the Vermont 100 (1st place), the Leadville 100 (7th place) and the Wasatch 100 (1st place).
Here, he reflects on his journey to the United States to race some of the most distinguished ultras on American soil and attempt to break the current record held by his Altra teammate, Ian Sharman.
