HARDROCK 100 & TRAIL SUSTAINABILITY

Saving the San Juan Mountains one step at a time.

With thousands of people spending the last year venturing outside to find solace in nature, it's no wonder our trails and backcountry areas are feeling the effects. Altra Running and the Hardrock 100 Endurance Race, supported by Altra Elite athletes Jason Schlarb and Meredith Edwards, are joining forces with the San Juan Mountain Association to help preserve the mountains where they run.

The Hardrock Hundred Mile Endurance Run and Altra Running, with the support of Altra Elite Athletes Meredith Edwards and Jason Schlarb and the San Juan Mountain Association are looking to bring awareness to ongoing land use/conservation efforts in Southwestern Colorado.

Starting in 2021, the San Juan Mountain Association launched its first-ever Forest Ambassador program with the intent of bringing education and awareness to trail users after seeing an explosion in use in 2020. The hope is that this program will work to play a part in helping to preserve the San Juan Mountains for generations to come.

Watch the video below for a deeper look into the project's mission and visit the San Juan Mountain Association's website to find out how you can get involved.
