Tara “Candy Mama” Dower

@tara.dower

My "trail career" began while thru hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2019 where I received the trail name "Candy Mama." I love a challenge and pushing my limits but have been known to enjoy a slow saunter in the woods with friends. Though a lot of my life revolves around thru hiking, trail running, and FKTs, I enjoy my creative outlet of producing videos for my YouTube Channel, Tara Treks.

What is your Stay Out There™ mantra?
Not really a mantra but I have a conversation with myself when times get tough, and it helps me Stay Out There™. I initially feel bad for myself but remember how thankful I am to have gotten to this point in a race where my limits are being pushed. I'm thankful my body allowed me to get to that point. I remember how at peace I am on the trails. A bad day on trail is far better than any day inside.

Why Altra?
I've worn Altras since 2017 when I began backpacking. I've been a big fan since. It was a no-brainer.
