Meet Altra's Newest Elite Trail Athlete, JP Giblin

JP is from Denver, CO and has found his love for trail running after being discharged from the Navy in 2021. He came in 2nd at Leadville 100 last year and recently finished 2nd at Bandera 100k, landing him a golden ticket for Western States in June!

How did you get into running?

I got into running through triathlon. I competed for a number of years before I got a little burned out and wanted to try something new for a summer. So, I signed up for an ultramarathon and became hooked on the sport because of the community and how hard it was.

What do you love about running?

There is so much to love about running. I love the challenge of it. I love the places I get to go and the simplicity and empowerment of covering a distance on my own two feet. I love the people I get to meet along the way. Most of all, I love the humbling and fulfilling experience of pushing the body and mind in amazingly beautiful landscapes.

Where do you spend most of your time training?

I train in the foothills of Boulder, Colorado mainly.

What makes you excited about partnering with Altra?

I am excited to join Altra because it is an amazing name in the running world. They have stellar athletes and are a positive force in elevating the voices of all different backgrounds and personalities. To have their support as an athlete and a person is an absolute privilege. I hope to make my mark with the brand and inspire others to push themselves to do hard things!

What running milestone are you looking forward to this year?

I am really looking forward to racing with the best at Western States!

What's your go-to Altra Shoe?

My go-to shoe is the Mont Blanc Boa.
